Delivering a Bespoke Agile Training Programme

Project Background

McKenna Agile Consultants have been JBA Risk Management’s agile partner for over 5 years, initially enabling JBA to begin their agile journey by delivering some in-person agile training. Following the success and growth of JBA’s business, an agile training programme and consultancy engagement was put into action.

JBA Risk Management is a leading provider of flood risk science offering best-in-class flood maps, models, analytics and consultancy to the re/insurance and financial sectors, as well as governments, the international banking community and NGOs. With a collaborative team of expert scientists, hydrologists, mathematicians and engineers, JBA use pioneering science to stay at the forefront of flood modelling innovation.

The Challenge

JBA came to McKenna Agile Consultants with 3 objectives:

1. Provide agile training to new team members
2. Provide specialist workshops to enhance the existing agile capability and skill set
3. Provide consultancy on scaling agile

In addition to this brief, the services had to be delivered 100% online due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Solution

McKenna Agile Consultants provided the following services to enable JBA Risk to meet their objectives:

Introduction to Agile – Online

We delivered our bespoke “Introduction to Agile – Online” 1 day workshop to over 50 team members. We held review sessions with the leadership team at JBA to ensure that the material was not only relevant but valuable to them.

Product Owner and Scrum Master Workshops

We facilitated two practical role-based workshops over the course of 4 weeks; Agile Product Ownership workshop for the product owner and product manager community, focusing essential and advanced agile product ownership techniques, and a scrum master workshop for the scrum master community and other’s interested in the role, focusing on facilitation skills, building high performing teams and supporting the team and organisation.

Scaling Agile Consultancy

Provided agile consultancy focused on how JBA Risk can scale up their agile transformation to continue to grow and excel.

Delivery

McKenna Agile Consultants delivered this bespoke agile training programme 100% online using our preferred video conferencing platform and a range of online collaboration tools.
